In the meantime while i'm saving up, I can do the basics to my layout over the coming weeks / months i.e. I can put some heating and lighting in there and some decent sized double glazed windows. It is my intention to save up around £600 and buy a 12 x 8 ft timber shed to go next to my other shed in the back garden and have that as a dedicated railway room in the summer. But as soon as I want to start modelling hills, bridges etc, this may become a problem as in the shed it's bound to get bumped in to or a bike will fall against it etc., causing damage to the models. This is OK for the short to mid term while all I have on the baseboard is the track. This way I can fold the board up and store it in the shed when not in use. So I went with the idea of a baseboard with collapsible legs. The conservatory is the only room in the house I can fit my 8x4ft layout. I don't have a room where I can leave the baseboard up assembled for anymore than a few days at a time. Just thinking (and sympathising!) with your comment about not having the room to store the baseboard.
